Campaign for a Justice Precinct in South West Sydney

by | Apr 18, 2019

CMC supports the campaign for a Justice Precinct in South West Sydney. We live in the fastest growing area in Australia, which will have a population of nearly 900,000 people by the time Sydney’s second airport is operational in 2026. But Court facilities in Sydney’s south west are out-dated,under-resourced, unsafe and failing to meet community needs.

Every day, our solicitors see the impact this has on our clients who need to travel to Sydney, Parramatta and Wollongong to resolve family law and commercial/business disputes. The Local Courts in Campbelltown, Camden and Picton are either at capacity or not equipped to mange the delays and backlogs in criminal and civil cases and the courthouses in Camden and Picton are historic buildings with no security. Victims of violence, who should feel safe when they attend Court, are vulnerable. The delays and the subsequent financial and emotional strain take their toll on our clients.

We need State and Federal Governments to urgently commit the funds needed to build a new multi-purpose justice precinct in south western Sydney. Justice delayed is justice denied. Join the campaign, write to your local MP, share posts from the Justice Precinct website: https://justiceprecinct.org/
