Why We Service Narellan
More On Narellan
Narellan, a suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, is located 60 kilometres southwest of the Sydney central business district. It is part of the local government area of Camden Council and the Macarthur region. Narellan is known for its modern shopping centre, Narellan Town Centre, and several historic sites including St Thomas’ Anglican Church, Studley Park House, and a golf course. The area was likely originally inhabited by the Tharawal people, with the Darug and Gandangara peoples also known to have lived in the greater Camden area. Early interactions between these Indigenous groups and British settlers were initially cordial but became strained as land clearing for farming began. This tension culminated in a massacre of Indigenous people in 1816, leading to their retreat from the area.
In 1805, wool pioneer John Macarthur was granted 5,000 acres in what is now Camden, marking the beginning of 200 years of farming in the area before the expansion of Sydney’s suburbs. Narellan Post Office opened in 1856. The suburb has several heritage-listed sites, including Studley Park and Kirkham Stables. Narellan was also home to the Oran Park Raceway, now redeveloped into a residential suburb. The suburb has a strong community spirit, with local sports clubs like the Narellan Rangers and the Narellan Jets, and community groups such as the 1st Narellan Scout Group. The demographic profile of Narellan is predominantly Australian-born families with young children, living in detached houses. Narellan’s governance falls under the central ward of Camden Council and is part of the state electorate of Camden and the federal electorate of Hume.
